How to Change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port in Your Email Client

Follow these steps to change your SMTP port to bypass ISP restrictions on the default port 25.
Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block the default SMTP port 25. To ensure your emails send successfully, change the SMTP port to 2525 in your email client using the steps below.
Mozilla Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird and go to Edit > Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings.
- Select Outgoing Server (SMTP).
- Change the Port from 25 to 2525.
- Click OK and restart Thunderbird.
Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express
- Go to Tools > Accounts (or Account Options).
- Click on the Mail tab, then select Properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab and change the SMTP port to 2525.
- Ensure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is NOT checked.
- Click OK and restart Outlook.
Eudora for Windows
Note: Changing the SMTP port in Eudora requires activating hidden settings.
- Navigate to your Eudora installation directory and open the "extrastuff" folder.
- Move the file esoteric.epi to the main Eudora directory.
- Launch Eudora, go to Tools > Options > Ports, and set the port to 2525.
- Click OK and restart Eudora.
Eudora for Mac
- Quit Eudora, locate the Extras folder in the application folder, and move the Esoteric Settings file to the "Eudora Stuff" folder.
- Open Eudora, go to Special > Settings > Ports and Protocols, and change the SMTP port to 2525.
- Click OK and restart Eudora.
Entourage
- Go to Tools > Accounts, select your mail account, and go to Properties.
- Open Advanced Sending Options and uncheck "This POP service requires a secure connection."
- Check "Override default SMTP port:" and enter 2525.
- Click OK and restart Entourage.
