Why Was I Charged Automatically for a Domain or Hosting Plan?
Understanding Automatic Charges for Domains and Hosting Plans
If you've noticed an automatic charge on your account for a domain or hosting plan, it’s likely due to a recurring payment setup. Here's an explanation of how this works:
How Does Automatic Billing Work?
When you pay for a domain or hosting plan using a credit card or PayPal, an automatic payment is set up for the next billing cycle, which typically occurs at the end of your plan's term (usually one year). This automatic renewal ensures that your services continue without interruption, so you don't have to worry about manually renewing them every year.
Notifications About Automatic Charges
Both the payment processor and we send you notifications before any automatic charges take place:
- We send a reminder at least 24 hours before the automatic payment is processed.
- If you're using PayPal or a credit card, the payment processor will also send you a notification of the upcoming charge.
Why Was I Charged?
You were charged because the subscription was not canceled before the renewal date. If you no longer want your service, you can easily cancel the recurring payment at any time. Here’s how:
- Navigate to your Control Panel and go to My Account (hover over your name in the top right corner of your account).
- Select the Recurring option to view and manage your subscriptions.
- If you are using PayPal, you can also cancel the subscription directly through your PayPal account.
How to Cancel Future Charges?
If you no longer wish to be automatically charged for your domain or hosting plan, you can cancel the subscription at any time from your Control Panel or PayPal account.
