Outgoing Connections - Secure Your Website's Outbound Traffic

Understanding Outgoing Connections

Outgoing Connections help protect your website from unwanted third-party access by blocking unauthorized outbound traffic. This tool, available in the Advanced > Outgoing Connections section of your control panel, allows you to set specific IP addresses or IP ranges that your site is allowed to connect to.

Key Benefits

By managing Outgoing Connections, you can prevent security threats such as:

  • Hacking - Blocks unauthorized data sharing with remote servers.
  • Spamming - Prevents your site from being used for spam by restricting outbound connections.
  • Scamming - Safeguards your site from connections to unverified IP addresses.

How to Configure Outgoing Connections

You can easily whitelist specific IPs or IP ranges by following these steps:

Step 1: Go to Advanced > Outgoing Connections in your control panel.
Step 2: Click on Whitelist IP Address and enter the IP/mask.
Step 3: For entire IP ranges, choose an appropriate mask (CIDR) value.

Disabling Outgoing Connections

If necessary, you can disable Outgoing Connections by selecting the Block Connections option. Be cautious, as this may expose your site to potential security risks.

Advanced IP Range Configuration

To configure an IP range, use the Advanced settings to select a mask CIDR value (between 32-28). This allows for flexibility in controlling outbound traffic while maintaining security.

Example Use Cases

Outgoing Connections can be particularly useful in cases where:

  • A third party tries to redirect your site to a remote database for malicious purposes.
  • Spam attempts are detected and require IP-based control for blocking.
